Phew... Now that I have cleaned out all my notes for book and film reviews for the past few months, I'll start writing a report from my trip to Scotland. Stay tuned.

While you're waiting there are some pictures here.

Saturday:

Panels on Harry Potter ("Harry Potter Has Put Children's Fantasy Back Fifty Years"), science and pseudoscience (featuring Guy Consolmagno SJ, the Vatican's own astronomer), and blogging as an author (with an incredible motormouth, who I think was John Scalzi although I was too far back to see his name sign). Also spent four hours chatting with my old friend Jessica and her husband, getting them interested in fandom in the bargain. (More about this elsewhere.)

Back to the hotel to change clothes, and then to the Hilton and the Swedish party. Spent a couple of hours cleaning tables, filling up with more sandwiches, cleaning plastic cups and getting more drinks from the kitchen. Reliable witnesses claim it was probably the best party that night, possibly during the whole con.

Sunday:
Panels:
• Fannish Etiquette: A Primer
• Speculative Evolution of Dinosaurs
• Subverted Elves, Hard Assed Fairies with Attitude, and Dragons Taking Tea
• When I Were A Lad, We Used To Dream of 64K (as [livejournal.com profile] tuwr noted, something is seriously wrong when the panelists start shouting chip numbers at each other and laughing, and half the audience gets it as well)
• Deep in the Heart of Empire

Chatted with people, went out for dinner with Johan, Mårten and Magnus (very nice Asian food — Thai, in my case), back to see the Hugo awards (Susanna Clarke won the award for Best Novel with Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell), dropped by the Hilton for the Finnish party, but left after 45 minutes (too tired). Met [livejournal.com profile] corruptedjasper and [livejournal.com profile] filkerdave, among others.

Bought loads of books and a KFC (Kids for Cthulhu (Tentacle Lickin' Good)) t-shirt.
Mood:: 'happy' happy

It's been fun so far. I have been to something like a dozen different panels, some more serious than others, and generally hung out with people. So far I have met [livejournal.com profile] alvekatt, [livejournal.com profile] corruptedjasper, [livejournal.com profile] dominicflandry, [livejournal.com profile] jophan, [livejournal.com profile] jlms, [livejournal.com profile] kjn, [livejournal.com profile] krsfm, [livejournal.com profile] thette, and ran into lots of other non-LJ people.
I don't have the time to write much right now, but here are some pictures. )

Thursday morning at Jury's Inn Glasgow. Just had a shower, connected the computer (£5 for one hour, £10 for 24 hours) and taken a picture of the view from our window.

Maybe not the nicest view, but at least it's a hotel with decent European standard.

More to come.
