Saturday:Panels on Harry Potter ("Harry Potter Has Put Children's Fantasy Back Fifty Years"), science and pseudoscience (featuring
Guy Consolmagno SJ, the Vatican's own astronomer), and blogging as an author (with an incredible motormouth, who I think was John Scalzi although I was too far back to see his name sign). Sunday:Panels:
• Fannish Etiquette: A Primer
• Speculative Evolution of Dinosaurs
• Subverted Elves, Hard Assed Fairies with Attitude, and Dragons Taking Tea
• When I Were A Lad, We Used To Dream of 64K (as

• Deep in the
Heart of EmpireChatted with people, went out for dinner with Johan, Mårten and Magnus (very nice Asian food — Thai, in my case), back to see the Hugo awards (Susanna Clarke won the award for Best Novel with
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell), dropped by the Hilton for the Finnish party, but left after 45 minutes (too tired). Met
corruptedjasper and
filkerdave, among others.
Bought loads of books and a KFC (Kids for Cthulhu (Tentacle Lickin' Good)) t-shirt.
