I don't like tagging others, so feel free to reply if you want to. If you've been tagged, write your answers in your own LJ and replace any question that you dislike with a new, original question.

Did you ever skip a class in high school?
Not intentionally, no, but it happened a couple of times due to me misinterpreting the schedule.

Do you read celebrity magazines like People?
Not a chance. I hardly know who the celebrities are nowadays anyway; sometimes I see the front pages of the papers and wonder who the hell that is and why I should care about hir doings.

What's your favorite ice cream flavour?
I like lots of flavours, but I tend to go for the classics: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. There was a black pepper and ginger ice cream about 10-12 years ago that I really enjoyed, but the only place in Uppsala that sold it stopped carrying it because, as they told me, I was the only one who liked it.

What freaks you out?
Spiders. The taste of mould when I've already started eating. Too large crowds.

What's your opinion concerning the microcosmos/macrocosmos philosophy and theory?
As a scientific theory, it fits my own (admittedly unstructured) observations. Look at the meltwater from last winter's snow eating a channel through a gravel bank; then make it about a million times bigger, let it work for a few million years, and you have the Grand Canyon. The mechanism is the same; it is only the scale that differs.
Otherwise, philosophy is not my strongest point or biggest interest.

What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?
Same as it ever was: Music, linguistics, terminology, science fiction, Doctor Who, and a couple of other things. I've been a part of Swedish science fiction fandom since 1996-97, but other than that I'm not really part of any organised fandom.

What are you listening to right now?
Depeche Mode: "Blue Dress" from the Violator album.

What's your favorite alcoholic beverage? Fave non-alcoholic beverage?
Alcoholic: I'm partial to a smoky single malt whisky, but have also been known to enjoy a dry to medium dry cider. I only started drinking alcohol two years ago and am still trying to find out what I like.
Non-alcoholic: Hot tea on a cold day, black coffee, cold milk, Coca-Cola, ice water with a dash of lemon on a hot day. And of course Apotekarnes julmust. ;-)

What websites do you always visit when you go online?
Gmail, LJ, Google Reader. Sometimes Facebook (although I only log in a couple of times a week). At work: a couple of work-related intranet and extranet sites (including Google Calendar, which is where I keep much of my project planning).

What was the last thing you bought?
Lunch today. Before that: a packet of yummy chocolate cookies yesterday evening.

What's your favorite season and why?
They all have things I love and hate, and I don't think I can pick a favourite.

Do you speak more than one language? If not, do you want to learn another one?
I'm a native Swedish speaker and fluent in English, less so in German and French (although I read both languages and can make myself understood if I have to), understand Norwegian and (with an effort) Danish, and can get through texts in Dutch. Generally, I can get the gist of texts in most Germanic or Romance languages. I'd like to learn Finnish and some Slavic language (possibly Slovenian) when I have a year or two to spare.

5 things you can't live without.
Music, time off from my job, friends, a good cup of tea, my hobbies. Strictly speaking, I can survive without those, but it wouldn't be any fun. (Part of my job is to quibble about words.)

Do you have siblings?
Yes, two sisters and a brother. None of them is on LJ.

What's something you'd like to say to someone right now?
To a project manager in Dublin: "Confound it, are you on drugs or what the fuck's the matter with you?"
There are other things I'd like to say to other people, but that is better done in private.

Who's your favorite vampire?
I'm not very much into vampires in general, and outside BtVS I'm not very familiar with them. Angel is a wimp, the other vamps are either throwaway baddies or bloody annoying, so that just leaves Spike. And possibly Drusilla, batshit insane as she is.
I also remember liking the villain in The Fearless Vampire Killers, but it's been something like ten years since I saw it. Oh, and the triangle in The Hunger.

What are you looking forward to?
Oh, a few things. Imagicon 2, a possible second European leg of the Depeche Mode tour, seeing friends who live too far away...

Say something to the person who tagged you:
Thank you once again for the hospitality and excellent company when I visited Gothenburg! It was one of the things that made my holiday such a brilliant time. :-)

1) Black pepper and ginger ice cream?! Sounds odd, hehe..! I must find out if there is somewhere in G-burg I can find that!

2) Too bad that it would not be a strategically good idea to tell that project manager those exact words... X)

3) I'm still very happy to hear that! I had a really good time too, and I am already looking forward to the Imagicon weekend! :D
