Around half past eleven last night, this dialogue took place:

MY BRAIN
Hey, I've just had a Really Neat Idea™! You know your non-fiction books?

ME
(blearily) Yeah...?

MY BRAIN
And how you never got around to sorting them by subject?

ME
I know, I know. And your point is...?

MY BRAIN
Don't you think it would be a good idea to get started?

ME
Look, it's nearly midnight, I'm already in bed, I was planning to turn out the light now and get some sleep. Why can't we do it tomorrow or this weekend or something? If it's been nearly two years, it can wait another day.

MY BRAIN
You know as well as I that if you don't act on an idea straight away, you'll forget it or lose interest.

ME
Oh fuck off, I'm too tired!
(beat)
Hmm, although I suppose the linguistics books should be on one shelf... And maybe the history books too...

...which is how I found myself in my living room, rearranging books until a quarter to one. My treacherous brain wouldn't let me sleep until I had started putting Dymo labels on empty DVD cases as heading markers. Another evening's work, and I'm nearly done.
