Miles' and Ekaterin's honeymoon is interrupted by an urgent call from Emperor Gregor: Lord Auditor Vorkosigan is to go to Graf Station, in the Union of Free Habitats (aka Quaddiespace), immediately, to sort out a minor but tangled diplomatic crisis. A security officer has gone missing, presumed murdered, and after confrontations between Barrayaran guards and quaddie security, which left several quaddies injured and landed the Barrayaran patrols in jail, the general mood is not very pro-Barrayaran. Soon, the situation becomes even more complicated...
An interesting look at the "new" Miles, a gripping thriller and some really interesting views of the quaddies and their culture.
