A word of warning to those of you who would install iTunes 5 for Windows: the installer seems not to be 100% stable, and it may do weird things to your iPod. For me, it erased the file "iTunesDB", meaning that the music on my iPod photo was suddenly not accessible; in the end, I had to copy every file from the hidden folder iPod_Control/Music to the hard drive and copy them back to the iPod through iTunes. Admittedly not a lot of hard work, but a) a tad annoying and b) a bloody waste of time.

I still haven't tried the Mac OS X version; I am not sure that my old Rev D iMac is up to the task.
