Today we celebrate the births of disco producer Giorgio Moroder, ornithologist and artist John James Audubon (immortalised in Tom Lehrer's "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park"), philosopher emperor Marcus Aurelius, philosophers David Hume and Ludwig Wittgenstein, confused science fiction author Alfred Elton van Vogt, Nazi official and anthroposophist Rudolf Heß (loonier than his co-workers, even), late boyband producer Dag "Denniz Pop" Volle, Swedish swimmer Ulrika Knape, POW Jessica Lynch, Russian right-wing extremist goon Vladimir Zhirinovsky, and the state of Tanzania. There was some other bugger too, but I can't remember who.
