6. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

The overall weakest book of the series (though parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows were worse) has become an OK movie if you want to kill a couple of hours. Thankfully the film makers have toned down CAPSLOCK!HARRY a bit, for which we are all eternally grateful; unfortunately, some other plot elements (particularly pertaining to Snape) have been removed that will make it difficult for film 7 to make sense, and there are scenes (e.g. the broom flight over the Thames) that will probably look great in an IMAX cinema but have zero purpose otherwise. I remember thinking there were other things left out that made it difficult to understand the film unless you've read the book, but I can't remember what they were right now. Umbridge is just as heart-stoppingly cheerfully evil as I had imagined, though.

Seen 14 July, with [livejournal.com profile] darnia. Afterwards we ended up at Loch Ness (the pub, not the actual loch) and had a bit to eat, a shot of Lagavulin and a nice chat.
